I have not read an issue of the Farmer’s Almanac for years. What a delight it was to browse through it again. The contents are everything from Amusement to Weather and in-between. I found articles on Astrology, Astronomy, Food, Gardening, History, Home Remedies, Miscellany, Nature, Weather and Calendars of all kinds. There are lots of Maps and, of course, what the Almanac has been known for in years past (farmers counted on it then and even today) are the Weather Forecasts. They even show you how accurate those forecasts have been over the years. This issue also talks about Parsley, Peonies, How to Plant by the Moon’s Phase, How to Rotate Crops, The Secrets of Snake Oil, The Best Fishing Days, and The Shadowy Story of Groundhogs.
The article that I found most interesting was titled The Future of Farming. It says that farming in America is changing. While 90% of farmers have been white men, there is now an increasing number of ethnically, racially, and culturally diverse growers. The article says 30% of farmers are women. I think you will find the Almanac interesting and informative. I did. I paid $5 on Amazon for a near-perfect used copy.
Bye now.
