Puerto Vallarta to be exact. We are in a new condo in Old Town or as it is commonly called, The Romantic Zone. (I will refer to it in my writing as OT from now on.) It is truly where everything is happening. (Don’t you know Phil is in his glory.)
Only downside to “our home away from home” is we must walk UP a stony hill about 2 blocks to the condo from main street in OT and then there are 50 steps UP to our condo on the 3rd floor. There is no elevator. Conversely, when we leave the condo, we walk DOWN the 50 steps from our condo and then DOWN the two blocks of the stony street. Going down is obviously easier, but the stones are still difficult to walk on. (One winter here I bruised the bottom of my foot on one of those stones, had to see a podiatrist and it took quite some time to heal.) All in all, we are getting stronger with every climb and walk. We decided we should be either in good shape or dead after 2 months of this.
But we were really put to the “walking up a hilly stone street” test yesterday. We met a guy who said he had a condo to rent for a nice price just south of downtown. We hopped a bus and headed that direction. Finally found it, but as we walked up this steep, hilly (and I mean HILLY), stone street asking one or two people we met along the way for #204, each person pointed us to walk up further and further….so we kept walking. We were sweating profusely and breathing hard most of the way. It was a tough climb. We knew we would need to continually get a taxi or have a car if we were to consider this condo location. He did say that an Ubber sometimes comes. So it seems that Ubber has now reached Mexico. Finally got to the house…..and found out that we would be renting ONE bedroom in a 4-bedroom house. It is right on the ocean and I mean….RIGHT on the ocean. Absolutely beautiful furnishings and view, but for us it was too hard to get to and too far away from downtown – not to mention way too quiet for Phil – and renting ONE room isn’t our thing so we thanked him and said goodbye. He kindly called us a taxi. We asked the taxi driver to take us to a nearby restaurant we had been to last year. We enjoyed the lobster for $14 US (not bad, eh?) as we had last year and then we hopped a bus and headed to OT. Not quite ready to settle in for the night, we had a cup of coffee in an area where lots of people head home after a day at the beach. It was good people-watching and Phil with his puzzles entertained a guy who stopped by to chat. The guy happens to live near Bush Lake in Minnesota. It is indeed a small world.
Have started a book that seems to be an interesting read. I don’t too often read fiction, but this one caught my eye. It is called “The Last Suppers” written by Mandy Mikulencak. I think I will have a hard time putting it down. Will let you know if the interest continues.
Here are a few photos of our condo. It is nicer than SunScape where we have stayed for the last few years. Bedroom has a large tv, nice closets and all of the floors are nicely tiled.

Happy New Year Everyone. Hope it is the best one ever for all of you.
