Phil and I were not singing that song. We were putting on layers of clothes to keep warm. Fortunately, we had warm jackets and enough long-sleeved shirts. For a couple of days, we thought we were back in Minnesota.
We began our month in Florida on November 15. At last count, we did all of the Disney Parks. Soarin” at Epcot was great as you “fly” all over the world. We did that attraction 3 times thanks for Phil’s Army Veteran cap. When one man who works there saw us the second time, he said….”Oh, you guys again” and put us in the front row. Then he saw us again and once more we got to the front row. In Magic Kingdom, my favorite attraction, The Hall of Presidents was closed for “renovation.” We heard the real reason is that once Trump’s “statue” was added, there were protests and fear has kept the attraction closed. In my opinion, that is pretty sad. In Hollywood Studios, I loved Toy Story and road that attraction ride 2 times. Bush Gardens was a disappointment unless you were a Star Trek fan. Universal Studios was somewhat of a disappointment too, but we enjoyed the Cat in the Hat and seeing Harry Potter fans dressed in long black capes, etc. Animal Kingdom was a huge disappointment….we stood in line for at least 3 (yes, I said 3) hours to see the biggest and newest attraction, Avatar. The line was so long…..miles, it seemed. After that, we saw the Lion King and then we had had it and left the Park.
Our favorite Park was Sea World. They did it right! In the evening, the O Wondrous Night attraction was awesome….the music, costumes, real animals coming up on the stage (goats, 3 camels, sheep, lama, and even a cow). Then we went to Winter Wonderland on Ice with violins, great ice skating and costumes. We closed out the evening watching Shamu (the Orka shark) and his shark friends performing in an atmosphere of love, beautiful colors, and music. It was fabulous. Sure wish you could have seen these breath-taking attractions, and the awesome decorations. Almost unbelievable so beautiful. It stopped me in my tracks!
It has been quite a month of traveling and attractions. We spent some time at two enjoyable dinners with Phil’s nephew and his wife in Winter Garden.
We spent several days in Hollywood, FL and one day we drove all the way to Key West seeing lots of hurricane Irma damage still to be cleaned up. We could see it will take months to complete that job. Then we drove to Tampa and there we discovered I had left my notebook behind in Hollywood. After a phone call to the hotel in Hollywood, my notebook was kept safe. So we left early the next morning for Hollywood to retrieve it and drove back almost to Tampa the same day….so it was easily a 500-mile drive day. It was good to get out of the car!! Phil has done a remarkable job of doing almost all of the driving. He is really great at taking care of things for the best outcome.
Now we have a day of rest, then tomorrow we head to Orlando, stay overnight there and on the plane headed home very early Thursday morning, the 14th.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all.
