What A Day In Florida

This is soon to be our 10th day in Florida. A bit rainy and cloudy the last couple of days, but not enough to dampen our adventures.  We have already been to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom, which required a day of rest for us as we stayed in both Parks from opening to close….long days especially in the Magic Kingdom!! We have spent the last two days in Port Charlotte. Good friends, Bonnie and Glen, invited us to join them for Thanksgiving Day dinner….and we accepted.  Our other choice was the Golden Corral, which we hear is not too bad, but we were happy to change that plan. Dinner with our good friends was delightful and we enjoyed it immensely.

Today we drove to Venice and bummed around ending up at Venice Beach and Fishing Pier. We had a huge plate of nachos and ate all but six of them. While walking on the fishing pier, a man told us about a parade in the evening….so you know that was “right down our alley!” We love a parade!  Off we went to Main Street in Venice. On the street where the parade was to travel, people had chairs lined up for blocks and blocks….no people on the chairs...just chairs as far as one could see. In the absence of having chairs to put down, we opted for spreading a bath towel we had in the car onto a bench along the sidewalk. Phil located a nearby park with some branches and he put those on the towel to “mark our spot!”  Then we went and had ice cream ……….and there we learned the parade was not this night, but rather tomorrow night. So we disappointingly “unmarked our spot” and headed back to Port Charlotte.

We will be up early heading for our next stop….Hollywood on the East Coast of Florida.

Happy days!
